EDUCATION LONDON PROJECT

The Peace Pledge Union's Objecting War Project offers a range of educational resources exploring Conscientious Objection in the First World War.

We believe that school students of all ages should be given the opportunity to explore the historical, legal and ethical concepts surrounding Conscientious Objection. Using original documents, primary evidence and subject worksheets, students can be encouraged to think about how and why history is made - helping them to understand the choices and motivations that lay behind Objections to War.

What we offer
Our education resources and provision are consistently updated to present new and interesting ways of connecting school students to the experiences of First World War COs.

School sessions
School visits and workshops have proved very popular and enquiries should be made soon to avoid disappointment. The Objecting to War project is exploring new ways of presenting the stories of COs and their supporters to students of all ages and we are more than happy to work with schools and education groups to fit learning experiences to individual needs.

Successful workshops have been run in a variety of formats and can be held either in the Peace Pledge Union Offices (Maximum size 10-15) for older students or through a school visit.

To arrange a school visit, email londoncos@ppu.org.uk

Worksheets
A range of worksheets flexible enough to be used across the National Curriculum take students through the story of individual COs, and explore a range of issues designed to explore concepts of war and peace. Students will work with primary material with a range of options for closely guided or independent learning.
